Isaac is 15 months old or 1 yr 3months. He had a very bad fall on 26 August 2010. First he fell from the bed early in the morning when I went to the toilet. (The way he fell down was ‘questionable’…) Next, he fell down again in the afternoon at the main door of the house… This day was 七月初十七, this chinese seventh month being the month of the Ghost Festival… The next day, 27 August 2010, he fell down and hurt his mouth also (this one I did not witness it because Clara was ‘baby-sitting’ him.
So on these photographs as shown above and below, you can see bruises on his nose and forehead.
These photographs were taken on 28 August 2010, Saturday. It was my Chinese Birthday on this day… Clara had wanted to go Jurong Bird Park since a two weeks ago. We had agreed to go Jurong Bird Park because of the NDP discount coupons, which valid until end of August. Thus we decided to go on this day.
These are photographs of “HAPPY ISAAC” at Jurong Bird Park. After that, he was very tired and no smile for him throughout the journey… However, he did not sleep still. He ‘endured’ until the end of the trip, finally slept when we walked out of the ticketing area.
Today I wanted to talk about Isaac’s name. The reason why I gave him this name is because of the old testament story about Abraham. In the old testament of the bible, Isaac was the son of Abraham and Sarah. Isaac means “God Laughs”. He is the son of the Covenant God made to Abraham that He would infinitely multiply his descendents, God’s chosen people.
Just as Isaac was a gift to Abraham and Sarah, at the time when I was pregnant, I thought of names to give to my child in the womb. One day, I was in the mass and it was Isaac that I had decided to give to the boy in my womb.
When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord came to him, and said,”I am God, Ruler of all; walk before me and be upright in all things, And I will make a covenant between you and me, and your offspring will be greatly increased….
Laughter For Isaac
The son of the promise was Isaac. The Bible gives us two accounts of the announcement of his birth. In one, Abraham laughs. In the other, it is Sarah who laughs. Sarah was an intelligent woman. She admired the faith of her husband, who expected to have a son, but knew she was too old for childbearing. So she sent him her Egyptian servant, Hagar. A child was born, Ishmael, but it was not the child of the promise.
The embarrassed laugher of two old people reacting to the preposterousness of this announcement, laughter tinged with doubt, which God would change into joy when Isaac came into the world.
Here is Isaac eating mixed fruits at Hawk Cafe before we enter Jurong Bird Park. Isaac is very good with his hands — grabbing and holding on to food. He is learning to use spoon now. He knows how to say,”No no no” (rejection) when he don’t want something, and he knows how to nod his head. On 26 August 2010, though Isaac fell badly, but he knows how to say “Bus” now. I had taught him several times, but whenever he sees ’4 wheels’ vehicles on the road, to him, everything is called “Car”. Everytime I tried to teach him bus, and on this day, he surprised me by saying “BUS“!
What makes me so happy is he always greeted me “MA MEE” loud and clear…. and his facial expression is so cute…. it really makes my heart melts….
